QS. Chief Brendan Uche Ofoegbu was born on 30th July, 1962 to the family of Mazi Gabriel Ofoegbu and Theresa Ofoegbu. He attended Agbani Road Primary School, Uwani Enugu and passed his First School Leaving Certificate Examination in 1972 with Distinction grade. He proceeded to Government Secondary School Afikpo, where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1977 with Grade One. Thereafter he gained admission to University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and graduated with B.Sc Hons. in Quantity Surveying in 1983, being a member of the second set of graduating Quantity Surveyors from Great Ife. He proceeded to Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) Benin City, where he did his primary assignment as a Youth Corper. In 1987, Ofoegbu, B.U. graduated with a Masters in Construction Management from the University of Lagos.

In 1984, he was employed by Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (as it was known then) as pupil Quantity Surveyor. He rose to the position of Senior Quantity Surveyor at the Ministry and was involved in the execution of several construction projects amongst which was the Completion of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku Ozalla, Enugu State, a project he acted as the Chief Quantity Surveyor, for a considerable length of time.

Chief Brendan Ofoegbu worked in other organisations including; Magnificent Builders Ltd (General Manager) and The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) where he worked as a contract staff in the Civil Engineering Department for 12 years. Chief Ofoegbu became a Lecturer at Abia State Polytechnic Aba in February 2009 and has held several positions, including: Head of Department of Quantity Surveying (2011 to 2021) and Acting Dean, School of Environmental Design and Technology (SEDT) July 2021 to February 2022.

QS. Chief Brendan Uche Ofoegbu, JP is a Member of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (MNIQS) and a Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS). At various times QS Brendan Ofoegbu has been: Deputy Chairman NIQS Abia State Chapter, Chairman NIQS Abia State Chapter, NEC member NIQS (representing South East Zone). He has attended several workshops and seminars, in some of which he presented his own papers. Chief B.U. Ofoegbu holds three chieftaincy titles. He is also a devout Catholic and a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP). QS. Chief Brendan Uche Ofoegbu is married to Barr. (Mrs) Loveth Nonye Ofoegbu and together they have four lovely children.
